13 Tips to crack IBPS Exam

Welcome to the world of Banking sector. Here are some important tips, which will greatly help you in your preparation:

1. Practice: It is said that “Practice makes a man perfect.” So it is very important for a good preparation. Make fixed daily routine of study hours and follow it.

2. Previous Year’s papers: It is very beneficial to solve the actual questions from the papers of last few years. It is the fastest way to prepare yourself for the Exam.

3. Time Management: Sometimes people are not able to attempt even those questions which they know the solution to. So time management is very important.

4. Use a timer: Try to solve questions in fixed time by using a timer. This will improve your efficiency.

5. Cut-Offs: What is important to keep in mind in IBPS exam, is to ensure sufficient marks above the cut-offs for each individual each section. Because it is necessary to score above a fixed cutoff marks in each section, which is roughly 40% of the TWS score. So give adequate focus to every section.

The following sections are asked, with slight variations depending upon the post you are applying for (40 questions from each section):

Reasoning

Quantitative Aptitude

General Awareness

English Language or Hindi Language

Computer Knowledge

Numerical Ability

6. Good Books: Follow good books, with lot of questions, to have good understanding of concepts and formulas. For example you can follow ‘Arun Sharma – for Quantitative Aptitude’. And trust me, you should solve as many questions as you can.

A day before Exam

7. Good Sleep: Have a sound sleep, a day before the exam. This will keep you fresh for the next day, and affect your overall efficiency.

8. Proper Diet: You should have a fresh and healthy food with more amounts of fluids in them. Fruit juices and plenty of water are very helpful.

In the Examination Hall

9. Have a look: Have a look on entire paper before starting to attempt the questions. Remember, all questions carry equal marks. So it’s better to solve more of those questions which you are confident for, instead of solving lesser number of tougher questions.

10. Avoid guessing: Try not to attempt the questions, which you don’t know. Stats show that it is quite unlikely to win you marks and will most probably result in negative marking. It can ruin your possibility of selection even if you have solved sufficient questions to get through.

11. Check the options: Sometimes you can obtain the answer by simply checking the options. It improves your speed and saves time for attempting more questions.

12. Easiest First: Attempt that section first, which is easiest for you. It can vary from person to person. This will ensure that you don’t miss the questions in which you are confident, and improve your score.

13. Carry Documents: Ensure that you are carrying the important documents to the Examination Hall viz. Hall Ticket, Photographs etc. Also keep extra copies and Xerox of the documents.
